Biography For Brenda Desjardins:
I am a self - taught artist specializing in non-objective contemporary abstractions. I was born in Neepawa, Manitoba and am proud of my Metis heritage. I enjoy working with acrylics and mixed media. Although I am a new artist, I am excited to be able to say that some of my artwork has been collected not only across Canada, but also internationally, both in the United States and Europe.
Art is something that has always surrounded me, something that has defined my family. Having moved to Nelson, British Columbia, seven years ago and being immersed in so much art and culture, I found myself compelled to pick up a paintbrush. I love to add depth and texture to my paintings almost asking people to reach out and touch them. I use layering, pouring and molding techniques to add life and depth to my paintings, giving them an almost three dimensional quality. Inspired by the diversity of cultures in our area, I am drawn to paint with the rich colors and textural cues I see in our beautiful community.
My paintings are not only available by gallery display, and online, but also by arranged commissions. And under abstract paintings and contemporary paintings at www.fineartamerica.com
